Sony is still offering its PlayStation Plus subscribers bundles of free games each month, and for the most part, those offers have been pretty well received in July and August. July games included Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, AND Arcadegedon, for example, while the August matches are Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, AND Little Nightmares. While that’s all well and good for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers, those who subscribe to the Premium tier of the service are left wondering where all the retro and classic games are.
For those who didn’t pay much attention to the new tiers when they went live in June, the PlayStation Plus Premium tier is meant to include a library of these classic games from the PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 eras, as well as some PlayStation Portable Games also. It certainly delivers on that, but considering how many of those games were previously available through PlayStation Now before that service merged with PlayStation Plus, subscribers expected constant classic and retro additions every month.
July’s PlayStation Plus Premium Add-ons include Echoshift, no heroes allowed!, AND LocoRoco Midnight Carnival from the PlayStation Portable era, but the August game list didn’t include any titles exclusive to the Premium tier. After only seeing three classic games advertised as new add-ons since the new tiers were introduced in June, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers seem to be getting impatient.
You can see some of the reactions to the lack of retro and classic games in the answers below. If there’s a game you’d like to see added to PlayStation Plus Premium, be sure to put its name in our comments as well.
Are we done?
HEY @Sony @PlayStation #playstationplusof course it would be nice if you added Retro games to the Retro category I’m paying for… It would be weird if you literally didn’t add any Retro games this month… Oh wait, that’s what you got done… So are we done with Retro games then?

Were the day one classics the big draw?
Retro games releasing on ps plus day 1 lol that was the biggest hype about ps premium. And that’s my point if it wasn’t for classics day 1 ps them No one would have cared about the service except new console owners then they would be canceled soon after they arrived

Where are the Retro Games?
Why do I pay premium?… Where are there good retro games, demos,… It’s a joke

Missing the point
will we have more classic games or not? like i’m really struggling to see the point in keeping a sub premium when i can drop the extra because the classic games and trials aren’t worth it

It has to grow
The addon list is great but you guys need to step up the premium section. The Trials and Classics section is great. People will remove that scale quickly if this is your least priority when it comes to adding games.

It was supposed to be a big selling point
Sony pushed the Premium tier of PS Plus SPECIFICALLY to play classic games. PS1. PS2. PS3.
This was supposed to be one of the big selling points for it.
Here we are almost 2 months into the service and the “classic” game selection is unfortunate.

It can also be downgraded to PlayStation Plus Extra
Playstation I have been paying for ps plus premium since it started and you guys haven’t added any retro titles which was the biggest selling point of premium and no evidence of new games. grow up please
