This week may be lacking in quantity when it comes to horror releases, but two big new films are leading the pack, one of them bringing back a horror flick over 10 years later.

The next one, well, pits Idris Elba against a bloodthirsty predator…

Here are all the new horror releases August 16 – August 21, 2022!


First, the supernatural revenge movie When I consume you is now available on VOD outlets today, director Perry Blackshear‘as the latest released by 1091 Pictures to kick off the week.

Breakout Festival Sensation is now available in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Watch the official trailer for When I consume you lower.

“This gritty urban folk tale follows a woman (Libby Ewing) and her brother (Evan Dumouchel) as they hunt down a mysterious sniper who will be destroyed, testing the limits of love and loyalty in the face of ultimate evil.”

The third film from the New York-based director (2015 They look like people and 2019 sirens), When I consume youpremiered at the 2021 Fantasia International Film Festival to critical acclaim and went on to have its US premiere at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival before playing international festivals.


Later this week, twitch it gets weird, wild and Lovecraftian with the director Rebekah McKendryS ‘ Gloriouswhich will only be available on Shudder starting Thursday, August 18.

The Lovecraftian horror film finds a beast inside a restroom stall. More specifically, this otherworldly monster communicates through… the stall’s glory hole?!

Oh and JK Simmons expresses the nightmare of cosmic horror. Yes. We need to see this ASAP. Watch Shudder’s trailer for Glorious below, which will surely whet your appetite!

“True Blood” star. Ryan Kwanten plays a young man spiraling out of control after a bad breakup. His situation worsens when he finds himself locked inside a bathroom break with a mysterious figure (JK Simmons) talking to him from an adjacent stall. As he tries to escape, he realizes that he is an unwilling player in a bigger situation than he could have imagined.


With a little help from a few clever old school production techniques, Isabelle Fuhrman is back as Esther in the prequel The Orphan: The First Killavailable everywhere this Friday, August 19.

William Brent Bell (Boy, Separation) got into the director’s chair for The first murder. You’ll be able to see it in select theaters, buy it on Digital, and stream it on Paramount+.
