Celebrity MasterChef spoilers follow.
Tonight’s episode (August 19) i Famous Master chef saw Mel Blatt, Cliff Parisi and Gareth Malone battle it out for two semi-final places.
Celebrities had to cook not only for the judges, but also for exes Celebrity MasterChef contestants Vicky Pattison and Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and 2018 champion John Partridge.
Despite strong competition, it was Gareth Malone who was eliminated, meaning Mel and Cliff are in the semi-finals.
From the start it was Mel who stood out with her menu and cooking skills. The singer had changed her dishes at the last minute to something she thought was more to her taste, making a cheese fondue with steak sandwiches and an open hado lasagna.

Her ambitious menu was heartened by both judges, despite concerns that she wouldn’t be able to finish the dishes in time. “If Mel does the whole job, I’ll be in awe,” said John.
Her starter went down well with the judges, earning a “sweet winner’s dinner” from John Partridge and Vicky.
However, on the main course, Mel was cutting it well with 15 minutes to go and no pasta sheets. Vicky was also cautious about the dish, saying none of the ingredients were to her taste.
Despite the pressure, she managed to finish the meal, impressing all the judges and managing to change Vicki’s mind about the smoked fish. “Well, when I’m wrong, I’m wrong,” she said, pleasantly surprised at the meal.
Meanwhile, Gareth and Cliff also impressed with their menus, but unfortunately the pressure got to the couple during the cooking.

Gareth’s steak main course received praise for seasoning, but the quality wasn’t quite right. “He’s tried hard, but there are a few things that let him down,” Vicky said of the dish.
Similarly, his apple sponge with crème anglaise fell short, and the custard came out lumpy. “I had a very difficult time today”, he reflected after presenting his dishes to the judges.
While all three contestants put in a strong effort with their food, the elimination came down to who made the biggest mistake out of Cliff and Gareth – with Gareth saying goodbye Master chef kitchen.
“I’m very sad, but it has really sparked a great interest in cooking for me,” he said.
