Back to Cooking Basics with Blair: Perfect Grilled Burgers
WBAL-TV digital editor Blair Young is back with another episode of “Back to Cooking Basics with Blair.” In this episode, he shares his perfect recipe for grilled burgers or cheeseburgers. It’s a fairly simple recipe that will make the tastiest and juiciest burgers you’ve ever eaten. )bunslettuce & tomato burger (optional) Directions: Cut the onion into very small pieces. Use a mincing tool to make it easier and avoid tearing the onion. You want the onion pieces to be as small as possible so they become unrecognizable after cooking. Next is to mix the meat with the rest of the ingredients. Add the onion, spices and Worcestershire sauce to a bowl and mix until everything is evenly distributed. Use this time to pick any larger parts of the onion that made it into the cut. Divide the meat mixture into equal sized meatballs (approximately 1/4 pound) then using a noodle press, roll the meatballs into patties. Spray one side of the burger and use your thumb or spoon to make a small well in the center of the burger. This will help the burger cook evenly on the grill. Preheat the grill to nice and hot, you want it to be over 500 degrees. Then spray the grill with oil to prevent the food from sticking. Place the burgers on the grill making sure the seasoned side is down and spread them so that each one has room to cook. Add a little more spices and let them cook for a few minutes. After a few minutes, juices will begin to collect in the cavity of the burger. That way you can tell when it’s time to flip the burger. After flipping, add cheese if desired and continue cooking. Place the hamburger buns on the open side of the grill to get them nice and toasty. When the cheese melts on the burgers, it’s time to remove them. Serve hot on toasted buns. Add lettuce, tomato and any other condiments and bon apatite, enjoy the perfect grilled burger.
