The Ford Mustang EcoBoost brought an affordable and efficient alternative to the V8-powered GT with the release of the S550 generation in 2015. Additionally, the newest EcoBoost pony cars produce 310 horsepower; some make as much as 330. That means gas in the Mustang lineup is no slouch. However, if you want to spend more to get a faster car, here are four new cars faster than a Ford Mustang EcoBoost, like the BMW 230i and Nissan Z.

Is the Toyota GR Supra 2.0 faster than the Ford Mustang EcoBoost?
Although the smaller-engined Toyota GR Supra 2.0 only makes 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, it’s faster than the EcoBoost. The Supra’s little brother manages to sprint to sixty in just 4.8 seconds, 0.3 ticks faster than the Mustang EcoBoost. However, the Mustang’s $28,865 starting price puts it well below the Supra’s $44,115.
However, the interior is more lavishly decorated in the GR Supra 2.0. Also, the little 3,157 lb Supra achieves fuel economy figures of 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg at highway speeds. That’s better than the Ford Mustang EcoBoost’s 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.
How much will the Nissan Z cost?
The base model Nissan Z starts at $41,015, a serious performance price considering the horsepower and torque figures. However, that base price puts it well above the Ford Mustang EcoBoost and other economy sports cars. However, the base model Nissan Z still has the impressive 400 horsepower twin-turbo V6 3.0L engine, making it much more powerful than a Supra 2.0 or EcoBoost.
Is the BMW 230i fast?
With 255 horsepower, you might think the BMW 230i wouldn’t be that quick in a straight line. However, you would be wrong. A 2022 BMW 230i can reach a speed of up to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds, tying the Ford Mustang EcoBoost. Of course, BMW has a reputation for understating the power of their engines, so there’s a chance the 230i will squeeze out a few extra ponies. Also, with a starting price of $37,345, it’s one of the closest performance bargains to the EcoBoost on this list.
Additionally, Car and Driver reports that the BMW 230i returned fuel economy numbers of 38 mpg on the highway. That’s well above the EcoBoost’s 18 miles on the highway.
Is the Chevrolet Camaro LT1 faster than the Ford Mustang EcoBoost?
Although Chevrolet offers many Camaros with a gas-powered 2.0L inline-four engine, the performance numbers don’t heat up until you opt for the V8. Enter the Chevrolet Camaro LT1, a 6.2-liter V8 muscle car with a tire-shredding 455 horsepower. MotorTrend returned a 5.6-second run to sixty with the 1LE turbocharged four-cylinder engine. However, the V8-powered LT1 is a much faster car, with the potential to reach sixty in the low four-second range.
What other cars are faster than the EcoBoost?
The market is full of cars faster than the Ford Mustang EcoBoost, such as the GT model of the same model. However, buying a new vehicle for the EcoBoost’s starting price with similar performance credentials is a tall order.
