Happy Halloween season! It’s the most wonderful time of the year once again, with the end of summer this week marking the start of the spooky season. And it should surprise no one that horror has planned accordingly; this fall brings a dense array of genre offerings.
Fall is peak horror season, of course, and the 2022 release proposal ensures that no Halloween horror watch list will go unfilled this year. This is just the tip of the iceberg for what’s to come over the next few months, so keep your eyes peeled for updates and more in the coming weeks.

Salam – September 8 (Tremors)
Three legendary mercenaries seek refuge in the mystical region of Saloum, Senegal, after their latest mission. One’s past comes back to haunt them there, unleashing hell on everyone.
barbarian – September 9 (Theatre)
Written and directed by Zach Cregger, barbarian sees a woman’s rental nightmare come true when she discovers she’s been double booked. Despite her concerns, she decides to stay the night. But the stranger may be the least of her fears.
Margaux – September 9 (VOD)
Director Steven C. Miller (Silent Night, The First Kill, Escape Plan 2) has returned to the horror genre. A smart home’s artificial intelligence system develops its own mind and turns a holiday weekend into a deadly nightmare for its new tenants.
Do not speak evil – September 15 (Trembling)
A Danish family visits a Dutch family they met on vacation. They try to maintain their decency as the weekend becomes more and more unpleasant.
Good night mom – September 16 (Prime Video)
A remake of Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala’s 2014 horror film. Twin brothers don’t recognize their mother’s bandaged face when they arrive at her country house. The erratic behavior soon convinces them that she is not their mother at all.
gem – September 16 (Theatre)
Mia Goth reprises her role as Pearl in this Ti West prequel X. See Pearl as a farm girl with star ambitions and a brief murderous streak in her youth.
When the screaming starts – September 20 (Screambox)
An aspiring documentary filmmaker thinks he’s finally found the perfect subject in aspiring serial killer Aidan Mendle. But as Aidan and his newly recruited murder cult go on a blood-soaked rampage, Norman’s dream of becoming a famous documentary filmmaker becomes a nightmare.
Don’t worry dear – September 23 (Theatre)
Florence Pugh stars as a 1950s housewife who lives with her husband in an experimental utopian community. When cracks begin to appear in the idyllic perfection, she suspects something far more sinister is afoot.
The Munsters – September 27 (Netflix, Blu-ray, VOD)
Rob Zombie reimagines The Munsters on a cute date between Lily and Herman. Their friendship will take them from Transylvania to Hollywood.
The exorcism of my best friend – September 30 (Prime Video)
This ’80s stage adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s novel sees two best friends turned against each other when one starts behaving cruelly. The other soon suspects that demonic possession may be to blame.
Hocus Pocus 2 – September 30 (Disney+)
The Sanderson sisters are back and they want revenge. It’s up to a trio of high school students to stop them on the eve of the entire party.
Smile – September 30 (Theatre)
Dr. Rose Cotter begins to experience terrifying phenomena after witnessing a traumatic event at work. Scary smiles follow him everywhere.
Deadstream – October 6 (Trembling)
A disgraced and demonetized internet personality tries to win back his followers and sponsors with a Livestream event that sees him spend the night in a haunted house. What could go wrong? Everything.
Terrifier 2 – October 6 (Theatre)
Art the Clown is back! This time he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night. It’s going to be extremely violent and messy, and it’s coming to theaters – not MPA rated! – by Bloody Disgusting, Cinedigm and SCREAMBOX.
Hellraiser – October 7 (Hulu)
David Bruckner has such visuals to show us with this new spin on the Clive Barker classic. “A young woman must confront the sadistic and supernatural forces behind an enigmatic box responsible for her brother’s disappearance.” Jamie Clayton stars as the Hell Priest.
visitor – October 7 (Digital and VOD)

Luca Guadagnino’s (sigh) the next film is an adaptation of the novel by Camille DeAngelis. Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell (Escape Room) star as lonely young men who embark on a road trip. It’s a cannibal love story.
